JOINING INSTRUCTIONS
1. GENERAL : You will feel proud to know that you are joining one of the finest Armed Force of the Union which has been contributing substantively towards national security since 1963 and has been presented with President's colour for its contributions. Set up in the aftermath of Indo-China conflict in 1963, the force reached the nooks and corners of the borders to instill a sense of security and patriotism in the border population. Currently, the force is manning the sensitive Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders and has been earning laurels for its tremendous performance in comprehensive Border Management.
We welcome you to the SSB Academy at Bhopal for basic training which will help you in acquisition of essential skills to become effective leaders and "change agents" in this fast growing Armed Force.

3. SSB ACADEMY, BHOPAL (MP) SSB Academy, Bhopal (MP) started at the current location in June, 2017. It is located at a distance of about 25 Kms. from Bhopal Railway Station on Highway Ginnori/ Sultrania Road connecting Roshanpura. It is located at a height of 146 mtrs. The town of Chandukheri falls in the district of Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh State. The location of the Academy is 25 Kms. away from Bhopal Railway Station towards Roshanpura. The approximate distance from Bhopal Railway Station to Chandukheri is as under:- Delhi to Bhopal ------- 809 Kms Bhopal to Chandukheri ------- 25 Kms.
The nearest Railway Station is Bhopal. The following trains which leave from Bhopal to others cities.
4. CLIMATE The climate is hot during the summer season from April to August (Temperatures between 48o C and 28o C) and cold winter weather from December to February(Temperatures between 28o C and 7o C). the climate is moderate during the rest of the year. Annual rainfall averages 120 cms.
5. RECEPTION The course will commence from 05/06/2017. You are required to report at SSB Academy one week advance to the commencement of the course. A reception center will be established at main exit gate of Railway Station at Bhopal on 31/05/2017. Official transport will be arranged at Bhopal railway station. You should intimate your travel plan to SSB Academy, Bhopal well in advance.

7. CLOTHING AND BEDDING The trainee officers are advised to bring the following clothing and bedding items: Private clothing Trousers, Shirt full/half Sleeves, Sweater, Socks, Slippers, Shoes, Dressing gown, Sleeping suit, towels (As per requirement).

Besides above many other items of civil dress and uniform items will be required by trainee officers. These items of dress will be made available on payment from CPC (Central Police Canteen) as far as possible and remaining will be required to be purchased from open market keeping in mind uniformity of colour and pattern.
8. ACCOUNTS During their stay at SSB Academy the trainee officers will get their salary through Bank Drafts from SSB Academy. There are nationalized banks in Bhopal (MP) including State Bank of India. Candidates are advised to open their accounts at the Academy.
Initially the following amount will be required to meet various expenditures in the Academy:
i) Rs.5,000/- as mess security advance will be required to be deposited with President, mess Committee. Trainee officers’ Mess as security, which will be refunded/ adjusted after completion of the course.
ii) Rs.30,000/- to meet the initial requirement of clothing and other necessities till they get their salary. Trainee officers are advised to bring the said amount in the form of Bank Draft (in favour of their name) payable at Bhopal (MP) SBI bank code - 15080. Trainee officer will be required to pay their dues through cash/ cheque. Cheques of local banks will be accepted by the Academy.
iii) Trainee officers are advised not to request for loan from anybody while in the Academy.

9. ACCOMMODATION: Trainee officers will be accommodated in Trainee Officers’ Mess. Family accommodation is neither available nor allowed during the course. No trainee officer will be allowed to stay outside SSB Academy. Private transport and pets are not permitted. Visitors are allowed only on Sundays and holidays.
10. MESSING: Trainee officers will be required to dine in Trainee Officers’ mess. No Trainee officer is allowed to make his own messing arrangements. Proper dress and mess etiquette will be observed in the mess. They will be required to pay their monthly bills through cheques/in cash within the scheduled period of time.
11. DISCIPLINE: Trainee officers will be governed by prevailing disciplinary rules. They should scrupulously adhere to the written and unwritten laws, orders, conduct and norms of uniformed service.
12. TRANSPORT: For movement between Rail head/ bus terminal and SSB Academy at the time of commencement and termination of course, transport will be arranged by the Academy. Apart from this, Academy will provide transport for training activities outside the Academy complex.
13 ORDERLIES/ PRIVATE SERVANTS: Trainee officers are not permitted to bring any private servant with them.
14. PRIVATE ARMSTrainee officers will not be permitted to bring their private arms/ ammunitions.
15. SECURITY: Trainee officers are responsible for safety of their belongings. They are advised not to bring valuable items except those required in connection with training. All pamphlets, précis and other classified documents issued to the candidates should be kept under lock and key. The Academy will not bear any responsibility for loss of any kind of items in possession of the trainees.
16. LEAVE: Leave is not permitted during training except on extreme compassionate ground. There will be a mid term break of two weeks on completion of 25 weeks of training.
17. COMPUTER: If you have a personal computer or laptop, you may bring it along for personal use.
18. MARRIAGE: Marriages are discouraged during the course of training. Families are not permitted during training. Married lady officers who are in the family way would not be able to cope with the rigorous of training. Therefore, in such a condition, they will not be permitted to join the training.
19. MEDICAL: Medical facilities are available at the Academy. State Govt. Base Hospital is located at Hamidia & Gandhi Medical Collage at a distance of 20 kms from the Academy.
20. RECREATIONAL FAC ILITIES: There are facilities for playing Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess and Cards. Television with cable, VCD and Library facilities are available. Besides on every Saturday trainee offices are shown latest movie at Academy.
21. CENTRAL POLICE CANTEEN: Central Police Canteen facilities are available between 0930 hrs. and 1300 hrs. and between 1500 hrs and 1800 hrs . CPC remains closed on Tuesday and Government Holidays.
22. COMMUNICATION: Mobile phone coverage is available at Bhopal (MP) Trainee officers may bring their personal mobile phones. However, these are not to be used during indoor/ outdoor classes. Internet facilities are available at the Academy.
23. DURATION OF COURSE: The duration of course is 50 weeks. This includes border tour and other outings pertaining to training. Before start of the course, “Zero Week” is there for making preparation for the course. However the Passing Out Parade may be conducted after receipt of consent of Chief Guest only. Hence duration of course may increase.
24. REQUIRED STANDARD:
A. The trainee officer are required to be mentally and physically fit in “SHAPE- one” medical category.
B. All practical instructions at the Academy are imparted in Hindustani and academic and service subjects are conducted in English.
C. Non Hindi speaking trainee officers are advised to pick up working knowledge of Hindi before they join the Academy.
